Four Rooftop students win places at top Performing Arts Schools!
Seeing their students win places at prestigious performing arts schools is nothing new for the team at Stone’s Rooftop Studios, but this year the academy is celebrating no less than four pupils heading off to study at internationally recognised institutions.
18-year-old James Tonge who, back in January was offered places at Italia Conti, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College and Guildford School of Acting has now been offered a Dance and Drama Award scholarship to his preferred school, Laine Theatre Arts, where he will study from September.
18-year-old Faith Barrow, meanwhile, will be taking her dance to the next level with at Manchester Commercial Dance school Shockout while 16-year-old Cassidy Kempton-Lindsay has gained a place at Chester’s The Hammond School, which offers specialist performing arts offering training and education to students across school, college and degree courses. Last, but by no means least, is 18-year-old Charlie Allan-Smith, who teaches Junior LAMDA acting classes at the studio, who has accepted a place at Italia Conti.

These talented youngsters are the latest in a long line of Rooftop students who’ve gone on to forge careers on the stage and screen, as studio director, Laura Keeling, explains:
“We are so, so, proud of James, Faith, Cassidy and Charlie – the audition process for these schools is hugely competitive, so it’s testament to their talent, commitment and hard work that they have been accepted – and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them! One of the things that sets Rooftop Studios apart from the competition is that we are so well-placed for preparing our students for a career in the industry. Every single one of the teaching team has a background as professional performer, so we know what it takes to succeed and how to build the skills and resilience needed to ‘make it’.
“We’ll certainly miss them all at the studio – we have a real ‘family’ feel as our students spend so long with us, many attending classes from when they are toddlers right through to going onto further education, but we love it when they come back and telling us what they’re doing, seeing them perform as professionals and sharing their experience in workshops with the next generation of Rooftop kids. Break a leg, guys!”
