Rooftop students tap their way to £545 for Pudsey!
Even a global pandemic can’t stop us dancing! For the past 5 years, we’ve been proud participants in the nationwide Tapathon – which aims to raise money for Children in Need whilst seeing tap dance classes from dance schools from across the country join forces in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most tappers simultaneously performing the same routine.
Due to lockdown, the 2020 World Record attempt was put on hold – but that didn’t dampen spirits or enthusiasm as, back in November, tappers across the nation logged in to take part in a ‘virtual’ tapathon. Rooftop Studios was no exception – some 21 tap dancers aged 7-60(ish) logged onto zoom to follow Miss Verity and special guest Pudsey’s moves in the studio, having asked friends and family to sponsor their efforts.
“Tapathon is always one of the highlights of our year. Not only is it great fun and a challenge that tappers of all ages and abilities can be a part of, but it raises funds for a charity very close to our hearts. This year, despite the action taking place remotely, the atmosphere was fantastic and everyone involved had great fun while raising funds for this fantastic cause. A huge well done to Miss Verity and her helpers for making it happen again this year, and to all our tap dancers for joining in.”Laura Keeling, Studio Director
